Abby's Fairytale Workbooks is a series of activity books designed to help children learn the basics of telling and writing their own fairytales (and other stories) based on the seven basic plots as outlined by Christopher Booker. This workbook is based on the Overcoming the Monster plot and uses Mermaid Abby and the Sea Witch as the primary example of how to create and produce a story about a hero battling a monster.
The Overcoming the Monster plot is exactly what it sounds like. Something, or someone, is threatening our hero, and she must use her wit, wisdom, and experience to defeat the monster, save the day, and live happily ever after.
